It was fascinating to watch a mantis eat something almost as big as itself

Another insect I loved were walking sticks we always found them on the wild hazel nut bushes every fall

Haven't seen a grasshoppers in years are they still around I used to feed them grasshoppers

We get them in late summer , but in NB where I live we have no pray mantis ,  but I was born in Ontario and they had some , loved them as a kid, I was 7 when we moved and I asked my mom are there Pray mantis in NB and she said no so i brought 2 with me and they died

Once as a kid 5-6 a whole bunch of them were buzzing around a light infront of a pet store, I ask them how much they cost, they all laughed and said free, so i went to pick one up and they stopped me, id feed ants and spiders at that age,  could sit and watch that for hours

  :(
I accidently beheaded a praying mantis today when pulling weeds

Next one you see, pick up by neck,  find a grasshopper or a fly and it will grab it out of your hands and eat it while your holding it
